Why a Moving Inventory Matters
An inventory is a detailed list of your shipment, including descriptions and, often, the condition of your items. It’s especially useful when moving furniture, electronics, or valuables, as it helps you and the movers confirm if anything was damaged during transit.
If you’ve opted for additional insurance protection, a moving inventory is often required to ensure coverage.
When You Pack Items Yourself (PBO)
If you pack your own boxes, movers won’t open them to check the contents. These boxes are marked as PBO (Packed by Owner) on the inventory and loaded as-is.
This allows you to maintain privacy while still benefiting from a general inventory. You can list the contents on the outside of the box or keep a master inventory for your own records.
When Movers Pack for You (Carrier Packed)

While we won’t note every spoon or book, we will identify general contents and ensure that larger, high-value items – like TVs, furniture, or art – are clearly labeled and assessed for condition before loading.
