The Day Before: Getting the Home Ready

A little preparation on the household side makes packing day faster and less stressful:

• Sort belongings clearly — what’s shipping, what’s going into storage, what’s staying behind
• Set aside passports, jewelry, medication, and anything else that needs to travel personally rather than by freight, since these fall outside standard transit protection
• Label anything not to be packed, so there’s no confusion once boxes start moving

Moving Day: The Crew Takes Over

Packing begins with a walkthrough led by the crew supervisor, confirming the plan and addressing any changes. From there:

• Furniture gets wrapped in six-layer padded covering
• Fragile or high-value items go into custom-built crates
• Floors, walls, and doorframes get protected against scuffing during loading

The Inventory That Follows the Shipment Everywhere

As packing progresses, a detailed inventory gets built listing the contents of every carton and piece of wrapped furniture. Before the crew leaves:

• A copy travels to the destination Allied office, where it supports customs clearance and delivery
• A personal copy is worth keeping on hand — it’s the reference document for the rest of the move

After the Truck Pulls Away

Once loading wraps up, shipping details follow shortly after — vessel or flight information, an estimated arrival window, and contact details for the local Allied office at the destination. From here, the shipment moves into transit and eventually into Delivery and Unpacking Services.
